THE PIPER
Alberto Massi, from Siena, Tuscany, started piping following BIG workshops held in Italy by Breton Maestro Bruno LeRouzic, also visiting him twice in Brittany, in order to have personal tuition. The first visit to Scotland is dated 1997, when he plunged into Scottish culture thanks to Andy Hunter and followed pibroch lessons held by Pipe-Major Brian Lamond; then he visited regularly the Piping Centre, the “Piping Academy” of our days, receiving tuition by eminent pipers as Willie Morrison, Colin MacLellan and Chris Armstrong, and especially by the great Roderick MacLeod. He obtained in 2003 the Institute of Piping’s Performer Certificate and in the same year he took part in the “Archie Kenneth Quaich” pibroch competition, gaining first place.
